Today, the whole world morns the loss of a great technology icon and co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs. The fact that I’m even typing this right now can be attributed to the likes of Steve and many other innovators like him. What has Steve left behind? Well, he changed the way we listen to music, surf the internet, watch videos, and use our phones just to name a few. All of the news reports, tweets, Facebook posts, and internet articles today are about Steve’s legacy.
Whenever a famous person passes like this, one who has done some much for our society and its advances, I find myself reflecting on one question. What was their relationship with the Lord? Now, I don’t know the answer to that question. Steve may have been a Christian for all I know. What I do know is that today, the focus from the media and the entire world covering his death is on the earthly things Steve accomplished. I haven’t read anything about how Steve attended Church and used his money and influence to advance the Kingdom or how he changed lives by introducing people he came in contact with Christ. If any of that were the case, wouldn’t it be part of his legacy?
There is no denying the great things he has done but it does beg the question, what does it matter from an eternal perspective? iWonder…..
